Alois Kracher - Kracher

The hauntingly charming Seewinkel in Austria’s Burgenland is home to some of the world’s best sweet wines. When Alois Kracher took over from his father in 1981, critics were skeptical. In 1991 Alois proved them wrong, with what is possibly this century’s best vintage for Austrian sweet wine. It was a turning point for him. Leaving his job, he devoted himself completely to wine making, with the happy result that today, Mr Kracher is among the world’s greatest dessert wine makers.

Elda Felluga - Livio Felluga

A half century ago, Livio Felluga brought with him to the Friulan hills, the instincts of five generations of wine makers . It was love at first sight. A wine maker born and bred, Livio coaxed from his new vineyard the perfume and aroma that distinguish all Livio Felluga wines. These days, modern research has been added to the age old traditions, making the great even better.

Christian Seely – Château Pichon-Lonqueville Baron, Château Suduiraut, Disznókö Tokaji

Owner of three vineyards in France and Hungary, Christian Seely draws out the unique characteristics of each, accentuating them with his signature style.

Château Pichon-Lonqueville Baron
Outstanding Bordeaux has often come from the fine gravel in the south of Pauilliac. It is enhanced, no doubt, by the precise system of environmental management practiced by the Château. Such diligence has made it the first Bordeaux property to receive the coveted ISO 14001 certification.

Château Suduiraut
Rich and luscious are words commonly used to describe this vineyard’s produce, which incidentally, ages beautifully. It should come as no surprise then, that the vineyard itself lies in the picturesque commune of Preignac at the heart of five Sauternes villages.

Disznókö Tokaji

Known as the wine of kings, and the king of wines in its native Hungary, its uniqueness lies in the practice of late-harvesting only exceptional vintages. Self-confessed dessert wine lovers are advised not to let this chance slip, as it will only be served once during the Dessert Wine Tasting on 18 November
